In the early 2010s, You Tubers were popping up all over the place. Some of these stars achieved overnight success and became household names with millions upon millions of followers. It seemed like everyone wanted to be a You Tuber because it was a way to become famous quickly and make money through ads on their videos. People would share makeup tutorials, vlogs about their daily lives, or even just post funny skits in order to get views. It was an exciting time for many who wanted to become an internet celebrity!
They were able to make a lot of money from ad revenue. And get a lot of recognition from their followers, which made it an attractive job opportunity for many people.
Has the appeal worn off?
It seemed too good to be true though, as we now know in 2023 that fame on You Tube is much harder to come by than before due to decreased ad revenues making it difficult for You Tubers to stay afloat financially. YouTube is not a stable or secure source of income or fame. Your popularity can also fluctuate depending on the popularity of your niche , the quality of your content , the loyalty of your fans , the actions of your competitors , etc. Furthermore, you are subject to the rules and policies of YouTube , which can change at any time and affect your channel’s performance or existence.
